April Is Stress Awareness Month - Access To Support Resources

April 19, 2023

An important reminder to reach out and have conversations about stress and mental health where you work.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) holds statistics which indicate 914,000 workers were suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2021/22, and 17 million working days were lost due to stress in this period.

They have created a campaign called Working Minds which aims to prevent work-related stress and encourage good mental health.  As part of the campaign they have compiled a really helpful PDF list of support and resources which are free for you to download and share

In addition, HSE's guidance for managing stress at work includes information about a stress risk assessment.  Other useful resources are included in their Talking Toolkit, which can help structure conversations with workers to help prevent stress at work.

The Mental Health Foundation also provide valuable advice and techniques to help manage stress.  Visit their website to find out more.

As you can see, there's lots of help available to support businesses and staff manage the complexities of stress, so never feel lost - take a look at the advice and see how you can apply it to your own situations.
