Team Kinetix And The Sport & Youth Crime Prevention Project
June 14, 2023
Last month the sport and youth crime prevention project, that sits within the Active Essex Foundation and is part funded by the VVU, hosted a networking event with one of our member businesses - Team Kinetix.
The Essex Police Violence and Vulnerability Unit reported on the success of the event in their most recent newsletter:
The sport and youth crime prevention project uses sport to prevent youth violence, linking at risk young people with sporting activities, that also provide coaching and mentoring solutions.
The event was an opportunity for local sport and activities providers to come together, discuss their work and share ideas about how best to use sport as the basis of an intervention for young people.
They were joined by Quinton Green from MMAP workshops, and Knife Crime Victim Support charity who spoke about adding poetry, spoken word, music and film to interventions for young people, and Read Easy who provide reading coaching to adults who want to improve their reading skills and literacy.
Jim White, AEF Sport and Youth Crime Prevention Project Manager said: “The event gave everyone the chance to meet up and chat, but also hopefully widened the horizons of the sports providers to other life skills they could include within their interventions. Everyone seemed to get something out of it.
“It was a great day with additional opportunities for everyone to try some street dance, acrobatics and parkour – and no serious injuries resulted!’
Our congratulations to Team Kinetix for the positive impact they have made to all those involved!
